Top Tips for Child Pedestrian Safety:

  1. Teach your child to stop at the curb, look left-right-left, and wait if a vehicle is coming before crossing the street.

  2. Remind kids - especially teens - to put devices away, use sidewalks or paths, and cross safely at corners or with traffic signals; if there is not a sidewalk, walk facing traffic. Wearing bright colors, especially at night, will also ensure your child’s safety.

  3. Teach your child to watch for pedestrians, runners, and bikers - collisions can cause serious injuries.

  4. Children under 10 should cross streets with an adult, as most this age cannot accurately judge car speed or distance.

Walk smart, cross safely, and know the rules of the road.
